Coffee affogato: with which ice cream flavor?

For a perfect coffee affogato, it is fundamental not only to choose high quality coffee blends, but also to match the right ice-cream flavor, therefore able to combine well with the espresso flavor.

Which flavor to choose?

Let’s take a look at some alternatives:

Vanilla ice cream. The classic combination, just to be on the safe side.
Fiordilatte ice cream. Another flavor dear to tradition, perfect for combining with coffee.
Hazelnut ice cream. It is well known that the roasted flavor of this fruit goes great with espresso, as in hazelnut coffee, an exquisite Neapolitan specialty.
Cream ice cream. We always remain on the classic, but this variant is even more delicious.
Coconut ice cream. A delicious combination that lends itself to an alcoholic variant with the addition of a small glass of coffee liqueur.
Almond ice cream. Refined combination, surely appreciated by the most refined palates.
