Italian Appetisers Recipes

Fig jam is one of the most nutritious jams among those prepared with fruit.

It has a very full bodied and grainy consistency because of the seeds that make up the figs.

However, if it is cooked for the right amount of time, fig jam is very pleasant and tastes so good that you will want to prepare more jars of it and stock up for the winter.

  • 35 oz of figs
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of rum or red wine
  • lemon peel
  • a pinch of cinnamon

Macerate the chopped figs for 24 hours with the sugar, rum, lemon and cinnamon.

After 24 hours put everything in a pot and cook over moderate heat for about 2 hours.

To obtain a smooth marmalade blend everything.

Put the mixture still hot in sterilized jars and turn them upside down to create a vacuum.

Consume after about 2 weeks of rest.
