Orange pastries are great to take to the mountains because of the properties of almonds and the energy of sugar.

They are perfect for getting an instant recharge since the energy from the sugar is almost instantly released.

  • 1½ cups + 1 tbsp of almond flour
  • 1 cup of brown or white sugar
  • grated orange peel
  • 12 tsp of orange juice
  • icing sugar to taste for turning the pastries

Baking: 356 F  (pre-heated oven) – TIME: 10/15 min)

We mix the almond flour with sugar, add the grated orange peel.

I recommend, make sure they are untreated oranges and then with edible peel.

We also add the orange juice and continue to mix. Initially with a spoon, then with your hands.

If you use almond flour a little coarse and brown sugar a little coarser, the mixture will crumble slightly, but you can still work the dough.

I always make it this way!

When the mixture is compact, we begin to take small portions of the dough to work with the palms of the hand, making balls that we are going to crush slightly.

We take the powdered sugar and turn our pastries on it.

We try to remove the excess sugar and place them on a baking sheet with baking paper.

Bake at 356 F for about 10-15 minutes.

Check your pastries every now and then and when you see that they crack slightly, it means that they are almost ready.

When you take them out of the oven they will be very soft.

So, let them cool before you eat them.

I know, it’s hard to hold back, not least because you’ll have a delicious scent of almonds and orange enveloping your kitchen.

Here they are, easy, quick and gluten free.
