They are a wonderful Italian treat from Salento, Apulia (South of Italy). You may make them as small 3-inch tarts or even smaller “mini” tarts. In some Italian-American communities, they are called pusties.     SERVINGS:4-6   INGREDIENTS: 1 recipe of our Pastry Cream* (scroll down for recipe) 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour + more for dusting 2/3 cup sugar 1 stick butter softened to room temperature 1 egg + 2 egg yolks, divided 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Zest of 1/2 lemon   DIRECTIONS: 1.  Place the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl.
